Scope

Not all plants and animals inhabiting Sky Meadows State Park
are included in the Nature Guide. Currently, only those plants
and animals most likely to be encountered are included.

Plants are divided into six major groups: 1) trees, 2) shrubs, 3)
vines, 4) herbs/forbs (including wildflowers), 5) grasses, and 6)
ferns. Other groups currently not included, such as rushes and
sedges, may be added later. Listed plants may be native,
naturalized, or cultivated.

Animals are also divided into six major groups: 1) mammals, 2)
birds, 3) reptiles, 4) amphibians, 5) fish, and 6) butterflies. Again,
other groups currently not included, such as the vast number of
insects, may be added later.

Fungi and lichens are not included, although some of the lichens
are quit evident.

A three year field inventory study of the above plants and animals is
anticipated; once this process is complete, additional species of both
plants and animals will be included in the Nature Guide.
