Fumitory (Family Fumariaceae)

 

Fumariaceae, commonly called the Fumitory, Fumewort, or Bleed-

ing-heart Family (sometimes treated as subfamily Fumarioideae

under family Papaveraceae) is a family of about 575 species of

herbaceous plants in 20 genera.

 

Family Fumariaceae is distributed in temperate to sub-tropical

regions. Species are widespread in North temperate regions, a few

in montane southern and eastern Africa.

 

Several species of Fumariaceae are economically important as

ornamentals.
